Hey Ocean!: Alleyways

I think this will always be my favourite song and video from Hey Ocean!. I love how they are just around the kitchen jamming while preparing food. I still haven't seen them live even though we live in the same city. They are shooting a video next week and they need extras. I hope that they choose me and it won't conflict with my schedule.

The Fray: Heartless (Official Music Video)

Earlier this year, The Fray made their own rendition of Kanye West's Heartless. One of the most popular covers of year has now been matched a video of its own.
[Chorus]
In the night, I hear em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless
How could you be so heartless?
Oh How could you be so heartless?

[Verse 1]
How could you be so, cold as the winter wind when it breeze, yo
Just remember that you talkin to me though
You need to watch the way you talkin to me, yo
I mean after all the things that weve been through
I mean after all the things we got into
Hey yo, I know of some things that you aint told me
Hey yo, I did some things but thats the old me
And now you wanna get me back and you gon show me
So you walk around like you dont know me
You got a new friend, well I got homies
But in the end its still so lonely

[Chorus]
In the night, I hear em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless
How could you be so heartless?
Oh How could you be so heartless?

[Verse 2]
How could you be so Dr. Evil, you bringin out a side of me that I dont know
I decided we werent gon speak so
Why we up 3 A.M. on the phone
Why does she be so mad at me fo
Homie I dont know, shes hot and cold
I wont stop, wont mess my groove up
Cause I already know how this thing go
You run and tell your friends that youre leaving me
They say that they dont see what you see in me
You wait a couple months then you gon see
Youll never find nobody better than me

[Chorus]
In the night, I hear em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless
How could you be so heartless?
Oh How could you be so heartless?

[Verse 3]
Talkin, talkin, talkin, talk
Baby lets just knock it off
They dont know what we been through
They dont know bout me and you
So I got something new to see
And you just gon keep hatin me
And we just gon be enemies
I know you cant believe
I could just leave it wrong
And you cant make it right
Im gon take off tonight
Into the night.

[Chorus]
In the night, I hear em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless
How could you be so heartless?
Oh How could you be so heartless?

LIGHTS: Saviour (Official Music Video)

This is the newest music video that I animated for a talented Canadian artist named 'LIGHTS'.
I was graciously asked again to work with the same director that I worked with on the Meaghan Smith music videos; Roberto Schoberto. With his great eye for direction and colour we were able to pull this video together in an EXTREMELY short amount of time. I was also assisted by my good friend Dharmali Patel in finishing off some of the animation.

After we finally got the concept designs approved by Lights' management and Warner music, we banged out the animation as quick as possible.

All the animation was done in Flash, and some still images done in Photoshop with animated elements over top (eg - still image of her face with animated hair)

Roberto did all of the AMAZING backgrounds and all of the final compositing in After Effects.

All in all, it turned out great... but with just a couple more days for production, we could have made it amazing. All things considering, we were pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Mr Hudson ft. Kanye West: Supernova (Selah Cover)

This is a great rendition of the song. It kind of sounds like how John Legend would take this song and make it his own with a little more falsetto. This video was featured on Mr Hudson's site as the number one fan made video.

Raphael Saadiq: Let's Take A Walk (Music Video)

I will be heading down to Seattle to catch Raphael Saadiq when he performs during the Bumbershoot Festival. He has a very unique sound, in today's standards, because his voice is very old fashioned. Keeping with the style of his voice, his attire and music videos reflect the olden days. This music video was directed by Edouard Salier.

Drake: Best I Ever Had (Spoof)

via illRoots

This spoof was based on all the controversy and speculations about the Best I Ever Had music video. The original video of the now immensely popular song, "Best I Ever Had", was directed by Kanye West and the reception was not expected from Drake. The original was said to depict that Drake was a sexist. He first responded by saying that he wished others would see the the deeper meaning of the video, but later apologized for offending much of the viewers. Kanye West also offered to remake the video, but it was refused by Drake.

Serfs On the Manor: Shiloh Hill (Review)

Serfs on the what?

If you don’t know who these guys are, that’s what you’re probably thinking. As a guest attending their first live show, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. That was probably the case for everyone, unless you were there during their practices, since these boys have only gone public for a couple months and are still without any videos or recordings.

That doesn’t mean they weren’t there to impress. As their first venue, they chose to play at Shiloh Hill, which was located all the way out in Mission, BC. I wasn’t looking forward to the one-hour drive from Burnaby–especially since the thunderstorms decided to come out and play that night. But despite that, I was surprised to have been welcomed to the estate; which was a 100 acre land (owned by good friend of the band, John McCarthy), containing a golf course, a large three story mansion with a pool, a barn, and their own recreation field which was all accented by the wonderful scenery. The only downside was learning that the boys’ hard work on building a stage, set next to the pool, had been compromised due to the gloomy weather. Instead, they had moved the equipment to their barn, which ended up being a suitable location.

Serfs on the Manor consists of four guys: Jordan Wong on the lead guitar, Shayne “Shed” Edwards on the lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Jordan Michael Edwards on the bass and Lucas Benjamin Gedak on the drums. They began to play late into the evening with a minimal, but eager, crowd of friends. True to any concert, they played loud and with a purpose. They opened their act with a couple of covers, starting with “Gone Away” by the Offspring, and “Hand that Feeds” by Nine Inch Nails to name a few. Soon after, they finally introduced one of their first originals, “Bison on the Tundra”, which was inspired by their long-time friend Andrew Bround–who was their one-man mosh-pit for the night. A second original entitled “Fallow Times” followed after. They continued with covers by Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson and Gerry Rafferty.

In the middle of the set, they introduced two more of their own originals, entitled “The Veteran” and “Mass Grave. They ended the night with “Rise and Stand", another one of their originals.

I’ll be honest; it was hard to judge these guys due to their lack of efficient equipment. These boys meant to play loud, but it proved difficult since their sound system couldn't handle the heat. Still, they brought their own kind of energy to the stage with Jordan Wong ripping up the solos–especially when he gave Andrew Bround a face melt (see photo)–while Shayne “Shed” Edwards showed great potential as a lead singer, displaying his ability to hit all the right notes. Meanwhile, Jordan Edwards and Lucas Gedak held the beat down on the bass and drums respectively, keeping the energy high and mighty.

I would like to highlight my favorite part of the night: Their cover of “Toxicity” by System of a Down. Their performance of this song gave me chills as they played with great intensity–something that made the night awesome. This song featured Jordan Wong on the drums.

When these boys could be heard, it sounded really, really good. It’s just too bad that their performance was obstructed by unforeseen factors, but anyone could tell that the crowd had a goodtime. These boys have the potential to start walking the line, as long as they keep doing what they’re doing.

So, I’ll end with this review with a definition of Serfs on the Manor:

n. “Four guys that out-performed the thunderstorms on Shiloh Hill”

So, definitely look out for these boys at local bars! You won’t regret it.

Saw VI: Teaser Trailer

Special Agent Strahm is dead, and Detective Hoffman has emerged as the unchallenged successor to Jigsaw's legacy. However, when the FBI draws closer to Hoffman, he is forced to set a game into motion, and Jigsaw's grand scheme is finally understood.

I have to catch up with this franchise. Haven't seen the fifth installment of the Saw series yet.

Taylor Swift ft. T-Pain: Thug Story

This video was premiered at the intro of the CMT Awards as one of Taylor Swift's dreams, that always seem to come true. One of her dreams was to do a collaboration with T-Pain. In the "dream", she scraps her sundress and cowboy boots to play up more of her thug style. Oh yeah, If you haven't heard it yet, she raps.

I also gave a go at vector imaging and I used a screen shot from the music video. I haven't fully finished it. I need more practice.

Coldplay: Strawberry Swing (HD)

This video was directed by Shynola who also worked with Radiohead. The video showcases Chris Martin, as a superhero, saving a girl who was kept hostage by a massive squirrel. The texture and pastel colours of the chalk setting is in perfect harmony with the theme and mood of the song and title.

They were sitting
They were sitting on the strawberry swing
Every moment was so precious

They were sitting
They were talking under strawberry swing
Everybody was for fighting
Wouldn't wanna waste a thing

Cold, cold water bring me round
Now my feet won't touch the ground
Cold, cold water what ya say?
When it's such…
It's such a perfect day
It's such a perfect day

I remember
We were walking up to strawberry swing
I can't wait until the morning
Wouldn't wanna change a thing

People moving all the time
Inside a perfectly straight line
Don't you wanna curve away?
When it's such…
It's such a perfect day
It's such a perfect day

Now the sky could be blue
I don't mind
Without you it's a waste of time

Could be blue
I don’t mind
Without you it’s a waste of time

Could be blue,
Could be grey
Without you I’m just miles away

Could be blue
I don’t mind
Without you it’s a waste of time

Eminem: Beautiful (Official Music Video)

I know this has been out for a few weeks now, but I still cannot get over how this song is... well... "beautiful." I'm surprised this is the only song on "Relapse" that he produced himself. The rest were mainly produced by Dr. Dre. I hope he does more producing on "Relapse 2."

Lately I've been hard to reach
I've been too long on my own
Everyone has a private world
Where they can be alone
Are you calling me, are you trying to get through
Are you reaching out for me, and I'm reaching out for you

I'm just so fuckin' depressed
I just can seem to get out this slump
If I could just get over this hump
But I need something to pull me out this dump
I took my bruises, took my lumps
Fell down and I got right back up
But I need that spark to get psyched back up
In order for me to pick that mic back up
I don't know how I pry away
And I ended up in this position I'm in
I starting to feel distant again
So I decided just to pick this pen
Up and tried to make an attempt to vent
But I just can't admit
Or come to grips, with the fact that
I may be done with rap
I need a new outlet
I know some shits so hard to swallow
And I just can't sit back and wallow
In my own sorrow
But I know one fact
I'll be one tough act to follow
One tough act to follow
Copy
One tough act to follow
Here today, gone tomorrow
But you have to walk a thousand miles

Walk my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me
All be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what I'd be like to
Feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each other's mind
Just to see what we find
Look at shit through each other's eyes

But don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful OoOo
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you sOoOoo
Don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful OoOo
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you

I think I'm starting to lose my sense of humor
Everything is so tense and gloom
I almost feel like I gotta check the temperature in the room
Just as soon as I walk in
It's like all eyes on me
So I try to avoid any eye contact
Cause if I do that then it opens a door to conversation
Like I want that...
I'm not looking for extra attention
I just want to be just like you
Blend in with the rest of the room
Maybe just point me to the closest restroom
I don't need fucking man servin'
Tryin to follow me around, and wipe my ass
Laugh at every single joke I crack
And half of them ain't even funny like that
Ahh Marshall, you're so funny man, you should be a comedian, god damn
Unfortunately I am, but I just hide behind the tears of a clown
So why don't you all sit down
Listen to the tale I'm about to tell
Hell, we don't have to trade our shoes
And you don't have to walk no thousand miles

Walk my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me
All be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what I'd be like to
Feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each other's mind
Just to see what we find
Look at shit through each other's eyes

But don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful OoOo
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you sOoOoo
Don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful OoOo
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you sOoOoo

Nobody asked for life to deal us
With these bullshit hands with doubt
We have to take these cards ourselves
And flip them, don't expect no help
Now I could have either just
Sat on my ass and pissed and moaned
But take this situation in which I'm placed in
And get up and get my own
I was never the type of kid
To wait but I know to unpack his bags
Never sat on the porch and hoped and prayed
For a dad to show up who never did
I just wanted to fit in
Every single place
Every school I went
I dreamed of being that cool kid
Even if it meant acting stupid
Aunt Edna always told me
Keep making that face till it gets stuck like that
Meanwhile I'm just standing there
Holding my tongue up trying to talk like this
Till I stuck my tungue on the frozen stop sign poll at 8 years old
I learned my lesson and cause I wasn't tryin to impress my friends no more
But I already told you my whole life story
Not just based on my description
Cause where you see it from where you're sitting
Is probably 110% different
I guess we would have to walk a mile
In each other's shoes, at least
What size you where?
I wear tens
Let's see if you can fit your feet

Walk my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me
All be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what I'd be like to
Feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each other's mind
Just to see what we find
Look at shit through each other's eyes

But don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful OoOo
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you sOoOoo
Don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful OoOo
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you sOoOoo

Lately I've been hard to reach
I've been too long on my own
Everyone has a private world
Where they can be alone... sOoOoo
Are you calling me, are you trying to get through OoOo
Are you reaching out for me, and I'm reaching out for you sOoOoo Oo Oo

Yea... To my babies. Stay strong. Daddy will be soon
And to the rest of the world, god gave you the shoes
That fit you, so put em on and wear em
And be yourself man, be proud of who you are
Even if it sounds corny,
Don't ever let no one tell you, you ain't beautiful

Imogen Heap: Canvas (Official Music Video)

Slow heart dark wait down love black canvas
Revolve within, you understand
Fragile earth where cracks in the temperature
Keep it cool to give, you understand
Keep it cool to give, you understand
Slow heart dark wait down love black canvas
Revolve within, you understand
Fragile earth where cracks in the temperature
Keep it cool to give, you understand

Cause I just can't find the strength to pull you up and keep you taut
No I just can't find the strength to hold you up and keep you taut

Hijacked lost track light fades another day left
Long shadows lure you in
The more you look the less you see
So close your eyes and start to breathe
Oh, suit yourself, this wasn't easy
Mm, suit yourself this wasn't easy

Oh, I just can't find the strength to pull you up and keep you taut
No, I just can't find the strength to hold you up and keep you taut

Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo
Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo
Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo
Da-day-hay
Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo
Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo
Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo
Da-dada-ho

Cause I just can't find the strength
To keep you taut

The Shures: Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol (Cover)

I believe that Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol must be the most played song on my playlist. Ever since I saw the music video of the lead singer lying on the ground and singing, I was immediately hooked. Anyway, The Shures did an amazing job with the cover. This was the first song they sang as a group. The harmony of their rendition just made me jump from my seat. It will definitely make you feel good inside. The group has also done other covers like Umbrella, Crush, Dead and Gone and much more.

About them:
So, everyone has heard of online dating... but how about online band making? Well, The Shures are a brand of their own. Having all met via the internet, the English, American and Australian band mates are the first ''internet based group'' around. Despite the differences in location (and not to mention time), The shures manage to write, record, and interact as though there were no distance between them at all.

Beyonce Wants to Star in Sister Act Remake

Beyonce's got religion - showbiz style - and wants to star in a movie version of the stage musical Sister Act.

She slipped quietly into the London Palladium several days ago, during a break from her UK I Am Sasha Fierce tour, and took a pew to watch Patina Miller and Sheila Hancock rock to the Lord in the Sister Act musical.

Beyonce was taken by Alan Menken's gospel-to-R&B score and enjoyed Glenn Slater's clever lyrics (Glenn has also written the lyrics for Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies), and has asked her representatives to persuade Disney to develop the show into a film vehicle for her.

If this comes to pass, she would take on, in musical form, the part Whoopi Goldberg created in the 1992 Sister Act film, although the stage version moves the action from the West Coast to Philadelphia.

Beyonce, 27, would play sexy lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier, on the run from gangsters and forced to disguise herself as a nun.

The Mother Superior part (Maggie Smith in the movie, Sheila Hancock in the musical) could go to Meryl Streep, who has form playing nuns, and can sing.

Beyonce is also considering recording one of the show's hit numbers, Take Me To Heaven.

If Beyonce's prayers are answered, it won't shoot until at least 2011, after Sister Act opens on Broadway in October 2010.

The producers, Stage Entertainment, wanted to take Sister Act to New York in the coming spring but it's not enough time to get the show right. Menken and Slater continue to fine-tune the production and tinker with the Sister Act cast album, which hits stores and iTunes on July 27.

There's also the little problem of who will direct it on Broadway. Peter Schneider, who directed the London show, was sidelined in the weeks running up to Sister Act's Palladium opening.
An associate director was brought over from Germany to work with actors, and associates of Schneider put the show together.

Schneider will still be involved but the likelihood is that a new director will be hired to give Sister Act some heavenly help on Broadway.

Meanwhile, the musical, dubbed 'red-hot family entertainment' by Ben Brantley, the New York Times drama critic during his annual summer sojourn in London, is playing to healthy, but not packed, houses at the 2,000-plus seat Palladium.

I'm surprised it's not yet the scorching hit it should be.

Nothing Like You And I - The Perishers

I was watching Greek when this song caught my attention.

We spent some time
together walking
Spent some time just talking
about who we were
You held my hand so
very tightly
And told me what we
could be dreaming of

There’s nothing like you and I

We spent some time
together drinking
Spent some time just thinking
about days of joy
As our hearts started
beating faster
I recalled your laughter
from long ago

There’s nothing like you and I

We spent some time
together crying
Spent some time just trying
to let each other go
I held your hand so
very tightly
And told you what I would be
dreaming of

There’s nothing like you and I
So why do I even try?
There’s nothing like you and I

Heartbreaker - MSTRKRFT ft. John Legend

Remember when, I caught your eye,
You gave me rainbows, and butterflies,
We did enjoy, a happiness,
When our love was over, I was such a mess,
I smiled at you, and you smiled back,
That's when I new, there's no turning back,
You said you loved me, and I did too,
Although it's over, I still love you

Chorus:
You're in my mind, you're in my heart,
I wish I knew, right from the start,
All my friends say, you'd break my heart,
A heartbreaker, right from the start.

I tried to fight it, I tried so hard,
And everyday I'd pray to God,
That you an me, were meant to be,
But you had another, you had a lover,
And now it's gone, I don't know why,
I feel like crying, just wanna die,
I can't look at you, and you know why,
Know I tried so hard, to catch your eye

Chorus:(x2)
You're in my mind, you're in my heart,
I wish I knew, right from the start,
All my friends say, you'd break my heart,
A heartbreaker, right from the start.
